    By: Phil Taylor

    July 2016

In my column last month, I outlined the federal governments “whole of government” review of light and heavy vehicle exhaust emissions for new vehicles in Australia. I detailed that on the table this time around for heavy vehicles is Euro 6 and equivalent emission standards from Japan and the USA. I also explained that the review process would take some time and that any new regulations would likely take effect beyond 2020.

    By: Phil Taylor

    April 2016

The Truck Industry Council (TIC) publishes new truck sales information each month for use by the Australian trucking media and government organisations, as well as TIC’s own members. • Welcome to the ideas boom

    By: Phil Taylor

    February 2016

When Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, announced his innovation vision for Australia on 7 December 2015 with rhetoric such as, “welcome to the ideas boom”, “we need to embrace new ideas in innovation and science, and harness new sources of growth to deliver the next age of economic prosperity in Australia”, “unlike a mining boom, it is a boom that can continue forever” and “I know that Australians believe in themselves, I know that we are a creative and imaginative nation”, I reflected on how Australian innovation has already transformed our road transport industry.

    By: Phil Taylor

One could mistakenly think that the “driverless truck” has already been launched upon the world, with the first trial of a self-driving truck on public roads taking place a few months ago in the US state of Nevada. However, once the media hype is pared back, what exactly was demonstrated, and how close are we to a driverless trucking future?
