ATA auction items announced

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has announced the catalogue of items that will be up for auction at its upcoming Trucking Australia conference in Darwin.

This year's auction will include two prime movers – a brand new Volvo FH540 Euro 5 in a package with NTI insurance and a $2,000 BP fuel voucher, and the ATA's own Safety Truck, a Volvo FH540 Globetrotter XL.

Other auction items announced include a CIMC curtain-sider fitted with JOST kingpin and landing legs and Fuwa K-Hitch axles; a set of Bridgestone B-double tyres; and two Thermo King refrigeration units.

The CEO of the ATA, Ben Maguire, said it was the first time that Trucking Australia delegates would be able to bid on not one, but two prime movers.

“As part of its sponsorship of the ATA, Volvo Trucks provides us with the prime mover for the Volvo ATA Safety Truck,” Maguire said.

“The current prime mover is the third we have operated since 2008, and Volvo Trucks has kindly agreed that we can auction it to support our road safety and other advocacy work.

“Volvo Trucks will replace the prime mover later this year, so we can continue spreading our important safety message into the future.

“The Volvo ATA Safety Truck prime mover to be auctioned is three years old and has travelled 154,000 kilometres. In that time, it’s seen every state and territory of Australia and has taught more than 40,000 people vital road safety information.

“During its time with the ATA, the prime mover has been driven by two excellent, careful drivers – Glen Schmidtke, our Safety Truck Advocate, and Justin Fleming, our TruckSafe General Manager. I can report that the ATA kept me away from the wheel.

“This is a great opportunity to own an immaculately maintained and driven prime mover that is also part of the trucking industry’s history.

“I would encourage anyone who’s interested to check the truck out on the Trucking Australia 2017 auction website, and then come to the event and be a part of the action,” Maguire said.

The auction night dinner will take place on 21 June 2017 and is included in the full delegate registration for Trucking Australia 2017, which will be held at the Darwin Convention Centre.

By some standards PJ’s Customs Brokers and Logistics isn’t a big operation, yet in Darwin it’s a heavy hitter. Offering a suite of port and air related services with an in-house transport operation sets PJ’s apart from the competition.
