ATA to preview new safety rules at Trucking Australia 2017

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and global law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, will provide delegates a sneak peek at the new safety rules coming in 2018, as part of Trucking Australia 2017.

“This exclusive masterclass at Trucking Australia 2017 will give you valuable and pertinent information on the changes to chain of responsibility and how to prepare for them,” said Katherine Morris, Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright.

From 2018, businesses in the Heavy Vehicle National Law chain of responsibility will be subject to new safety duties, including on maintenance and repairs, with maximum penalties to dramatically increase. Directors and executives will also have new due diligence obligations.

A segment of Trucking Australia 2017, the two-hour masterclass will give delegates a practical understanding of the changes coming to the chain of responsibility laws.

“It is vital that everyone involved in the freight task, trucking and transportation industries understand these changes so they are not left behind and can meet their new obligations,” Morris said.

In addition, all registered delegates that attend the masterclass will receive a certificate of attendance signed by the ATA and Norton Rose Fulbright.

Trucking Australia 2017 will run from 21-23 June 2017 in Darwin, and will feature open plenary sessions, keynote speeches on relevant industry topics and more.
