Australian UD Truck driver wins through to Global Extra Mile Challenge

Australian Chris Knifjj will compete in Japan at the UD Trucks Global Extra Mile Challenge.

The Container Swinglift Services employee won through to the competition after successfully qualifying in the Australian market where he drives a New Quon.

Knifjj will compete for the title of Ultimate Driver on 25 October.

Local UD Truck dealerships have been hosting Test Drive Days in which customers are given the opportunity to drive the New Quon to partake in the Extra Mile Challenge.

The competition uniquely simulates a transport cycle bringing driver skills into business reality by factoring in pre-inspection, fuel-efficiency and safety driving and parking skills.

The UD Extra Mile Challenge affords customers an opportunity to learn key strategies on balancing fuel-efficiency driving, minimising downtime and operating UD Truck’s logistic systems.

“The UD Trucks Extra Mile Challenge is a competition to demonstrate how customers can make the most out of UD Trucks and the available technology,” said Mark Strambi, Vice President UD Trucks Australia.

“It also highlights just how important driver training is.”
