Australians shine at Volvo Drivers Challenge

Australian drivers have dominated at the Volvo Fuel Challenge finals in Sweden with both Kerri Connors and Cameron Simpsons earning podium positions.

According to Volvo Trucks, Kerri Connors (pictured) placed third in the on-road category, and was the only female finalist in the competition, while Cameron Simpson from Victoria came second in the off-road competition.

“Yet again, drivers from Down Under are dominating on the world stage," said Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Trucks Australia.

"These drivers are the best of the best, coming from all around the world to compete for the title of the world’s most fuel efficient driver. What is particularly pleasing to in this year’s competition is the professionalism and skill coming from such young drivers."

New Zealand driver, Johnny Baxter, came first in the Fuel Challenge.

"Johnny, Kerri and Cameron are all great role models for the transport industry, and they should be extremely proud of their efforts,” said Peden.

The final of the Fuel Challenge was held in Gothenberg, Sweden, and saw contestants from over 13 countries drive Volvo FH or FMX trucks on test courses.
