Bis turns to Volvo commercial vehicles to secure new Water Corporation contract

A new three-year contract with Water Corporation secured by Bis will rely on Volvo commercial vehicles, the specialised haulage and materials handling business announced this week.

Providing innovative on-road haulage solutions in and around Perth, Western Australia, Bis will load and haul processed biosolids from several Water Corporation water treatment plant sites to industrial and farming operations for further processing and recycling.

Water Corporation is a supplier of water, wastewater and drainage services throughout Western Australia.

An innovative fleet of new roadtrain combinations pulled by Volvo FH16 8x4s, have been developed specifically for the contract.

The vehicle combinations, according to the company, are expected to introduce a new level of flexibility and reliability to the handling and movement of biosolids.

Bis Chief Executive Officer Brad Rogers said the contract highlights Bis’ unique approach to customer-led innovation.

“Bis is thrilled to welcome Water Corporation as an important customer to our Haulage solutions business. We look forward to building a strong relationship with them," he said.

“In addition to the bespoke equipment solution, the contract will also benefit from the latest Bis safety and productivity management systems, including the use of best in class, proprietary cloud based artificial intelligence monitoring systems," said Rogers.

“Bis’ reputation for safety and reliability were key factors in the award of this contract, and we look forward to delivering this essential service for Water Corporation.”

Bis formally commences the contract in December 2019.
