Detroit to launch new engine at Brisbane Truck Show

Original equipment manufacturer, Detroit, is set to unveil its new diesel engine at the Brisbane Truck Show it has announced.

The public will get its first ever look at the new on-highway DD16 which is scheduled for pre-order later this year.

“From the Series 60, to the DD15, to the DD16, visitors to the Brisbane Truck Show will see the evolution of Detroit when they visit the Detroit stand,” said Sean McLean, General Manager – on‐highway, Penske Power Systems.

“The DD16 has been built on the well‐proven reliability that Detroit products are known for, while providing additional horsepower for customers who want the extra pulling power," he said.

“And, as with all Detroit products, the DD16 will be backed by our comprehensive national network of dealers along with a renowned warranty package that gives customers peace of mind.”

Rated at 600 horsepower, the 15.6 litre DD16 is reportedly the largest engine ever produced for commercial use by Detroit.

With a wide, flat torque curve it can deliver up to 2050 lb/ft, optimised for combustion control making it ideal for heavy haulage especially through hilly terrain.

DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard will be at the Detroit stand from 12 noon on Saturday May 18 for a meet and greet with show attendees.
