First sneak peek at extended Volvo FH cab

Volvo Trucks has revealed it is working on an ‘XXL’ version of the proven FH cab.

The Brisbane-based OEM gave industry a sneak peek at the design concept in the lead up to the Brisbane Truck Show, saying it was a direct response to customer feedback.

The XXL version will be 200mm longer than the current XL Globetrotter cab and is expected to make “noticeable improvements to the driver’s work and living conditions” with additional space for accommodation and storage, explained Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Truck Australia.

"We are extremely excited to be introducing the FH XXL cab concept here in Australia.

“As always, we have been listening closely to our customers and there has been a strong and clear demand for this product."

While Peden admitted there have been “obvious challenges” to developing a product that is considered niche in the brand’s global product portfolio, he emphasized the importance of bringing the project to commercial reality.

“The fact that we are able to showcase a concept cab…shows that we are committed to bringing this product to market while also underlining the importance of the Australian market and customers within Volvo Trucks’ global operations,” he said.

The concept cab is currently not a part of the Volvo Trucks product portfolio and will undergo rigorous testing to meet stringent safety and quality standards before it is introduced in Australia.

An official launch date is yet to be set.
