Freightliner appoints industry veteran to sales and operational role

Commercial vehicle manufacturer, Freightliner Australia, has appointed Robert Griffin to the position of National Sales and Operations Manager.

An industry veteran for over 35 years, Griffin boasts several major original equipment manufacturers on his resume having worked with IVECO, Isuzu and Mack.

Most recently he worked as General Manager at DAF Trucks Australia.

Stephen Downes, Freightliner Australia Pacific Director, said he was thrilled to welcome Griffin at an exciting time for the company as it continues the early stages of local testing and development of the new generation Cascadia.

“It was easy to get Rob on board once he saw what we are working on and Freightliner’s massive commitment and investment for upcoming Australian models,” he said.

The Cascadia is currently the best-selling truck in the United States. It will be built in right hand drive for the Australian market as part of a $100 million investment that includes development and evaluation across Australia and the United States.

Left hand drive versions of the Cascadia test truck are already running on Australian public roads with camera technology to enable optimal driver vision.
