Hino Australia celebrates a strong first half to 2018

Three years of single-minded focus on the customer has resulted in a strong first half of the year according to Hino Australia.

The commercial vehicle manufacturer has captured 26.7 per cent of the medium duty market and 4.1 per cent of the heavy-duty market year-to-date it announced today.

Bill Gillespie, Hino Australia, General Manager – Brand and Franchise Development, said growing the dealer network, with new locations in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne had been a factor in its sales success.

“Acceptance of the 500 Series Wide Cab has been exceptional which is reflected in our order intake and reinforces our decision to offer Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and reverse camera as standard across the range,” said Gillespie.

“We were the first and are still the only Japanese manufacturer to offer this exceptional safety level in the medium duty segment,” he said.

He added, “Its value to our customers is clearly reflected in the sales figures.”

The 300 Series 4x4 captured 19 per cent of the light duty 4x4 segment in seven months since it was made available to market.

Initiatives such as Hino Advantage, with its realignment of its parts pricing model, had also contributed to record parts sales for the company.

“As our truck park increases in size, it is essential that we provide our customer with the parts and service support they require,” said Gillespie.
