Isuzu announces world tech comp winners

Isuzu technicians from across the globe have participated in the Isuzu I-1 World Technical Competition.

Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) finished in fourth position behind winner host Isuzu Japan, Isuzu USA and Isuzu New Zealand.

The I-1 Grand Prix is a global platform bringing together the best service personnel for a series of challenging technical and theoretical tasks.

This year marked the 13th anniversary of the annual competition.

With the competition split between global markets above Euro IV emissions levels and those below the grade, contestants were measured for accuracy and practical assembly to vehicle inspection, technical competency and problem-solving capabilities.

Michael Primmer of Winter and Taylor’s finished third in the individual competition, the first time in which 64 Isuzu technicians were ranked directly against each other in isolation from their national teams.

Seiya Shigeta from Isuzu Japan took top honours with Indonesia’s Joko Susanto finishing second.

David Smith, IAL National Training Manager said the introduction of the new format proved an exciting development.

“This competition has gone from strength to strength around the world and we’re thrilled that we could get an Australian onto the podium in the very first year of the individual segment,” he said.

“IAL has always been very proud of its talented pool of Isuzu technicians and winning amid such a strong group is validation of that fact.”
