IVECO recognises dealers at annual awards

The leading dealers of the IVECO Australia network have been honoured at an Awards Dinner as part of the commercial vehicle manufacturer's annual Dealer Conference on the Gold Coast.

Newcastle IVECO took out Dealer of the Year in the Metropolitan category while Coffs Harbour IVECO was recognised with the award for Dealer of the Year - Regional.

Both dealerships are operated by Newcastle Commercial Vehicles.

The Daily Dealer of the Year, a new award introduced for the specialist Daily van and cab cab chassis dealerships was taken out by Westar Truck Centre in Melbourne.

The final major award for Parts and Service went to Anderson Truck and Trailer Repairs based in Goondiwindi.

Alex Reynolds, the Dealer Principal for both Newcastle and Coffs Harbour thanked his predecessor Kevin Purcell.

"It gives me great pleasure in knowing that I have stepped into a fantastic team – the feeling of accepting awards for both regional and metropolitan Dealer of the Year is indescribable," he said.

“However I need to pay tribute to former Dealer Principal, Kevin Purcell. Kevin led the performance of both dealerships throughout 2018 to achieve Dealer of the Year," Reynolds said.

“To be acknowledged as the best by IVECO at both dealerships in the same year speaks volumes for the dedication and effort of all our staff.”

To ensure fair competition, Dealerships competed against similar-sized outlets, in regional and metropolitan award categories.

IVECO allocated points based on a dealership’s performance across several business areas including: sales, service and parts departments, dealership staff participation in training initiatives and feedback from customer care programs.

In receiving Dealer of the Year – Daily, Westar Truck Centre Dealer Principal, Anthony Long, said the dealership had commenced with the IVECO franchise in August 2016, before it became a finalist in 2017 and he was very pleased to receive recognition with an award in 2018.

“As a dealership we are very focused on being successful at everything we do,” he said.

“We were shortlisted for the award in 2017 and although we didn’t win, the team set its sights on going one better in 2018," said Long.

“Our first focus was to develop our presence in the light duty van and cab chassis market in Northern Melbourne," he explained.

"Through local marketing, we successfully targeted a range of industries and customers in 2018, but the key to our ongoing success will always be ensuring that we understand and meet our customers’ needs and expectations."

Each department, according to Long, had contributed to the award and sales executive Scott Whiting had been instrumental in growing the brand presence in the local area.

“I also believe that the IVECO Daily product has a huge potential to meet the requirements of the light duty truck and LCV markets. These markets will continue to grow and the safety, performance, available options, comfort and quality of the Daily product sees it well placed to increase market share in the future,” he said.

Former Melbourne Storm, QLD and Kangaroos fullback Billy Slater was a guest speaker at the ceremony and shared insights from a stellar playing career as an NRL premiership player and State of Origin representative on 31 occasions.
