Linfox invests in fleet safety and management across Australian network

In an effort to improve its vehicle efficiency Linfox Logistics is upgrading its FoxTrax management transport system.

The upgrade is part of the first phase of company-wide improvements Linfox is rolling out as it prepares to facilitate compliance with new Chain of Responsibility legislation.

According to Executive Chairman Peter Fox, in an editorial for the Linfox website, the upgrades planned for FoxTrax, would increase the visibility of the Linfox fleet and help improve it manage safety issues such as fatigue.

He said an app-based version of the management system was also anticipated to assist subcontractor compliance during peak times.

“This will improve our vehicle efficiency, replacing paper-based, pre-trip checklists, run sheets and in-cab communications,” said Fox.

“In some cases, we anticipate that some of our drivers may be able to complete an additional load each day.”

According to Fox the second phase of its rollout will involve a three-year investment to maximise transport management across its network as it seeks to deliver greater efficiency to its customers and reduce administration.

He said the company was also investing in advanced safety and sustainability by adding an order of Scania Euro 6 trucks to its fleets.

“The new Scania Euro6 prime movers will provide the most extensive list of safety features of any heavy vehicle in Australia and will enable efficient metro deliveries,” said Fox.

“We’re also investing in a substantial number of new Volvo Euro 6 prime movers which will further decrease the environmental impact of our fleet.”
