New fire and emergency vehicle debuts at national roadshow

A new state of the art emergency and fire vehicle has been announced as part of a national roadshow of Australian engineering.

The Volvo FMX 4x2 will visit Brisbane from 19-23 November.

Jon McLean, Volvo Group Australia State and Federal Sales Vice President said the new FMX 4x2 was the toughest emergency vehicle the company had ever created.

“This vehicle prioritises safety with a new design that anticipates the most gruelling and dangerous situations faced by emergency services,” he said.

Recognising the vast and diverse terrain of the Australian landscape where many emergency vehicles work McLean said the built-for-purpose vehicle was equipped to deal with the harshest conditions.

“The demands placed upon our emergency services teams, including Queensland, are extreme and their ability to perform effectively and safely is critical when it comes to saving lives and property,” he said.

“Our first responders need the best equipment possible to do their jobs and I’m proud to say the response that we’ve received from the authorities and body builders to the new Volvo FMX 4X2 has been fantastic.”

“Emergency services are a vital part of the Australian transport industry and this product is a game changer.”

Equipped with Volvo’s latest safety systems and technologies such as automatic emergency braking, energy absorbing safety cab and Volvo Dynamic Steering, the Volvo FMX 4x2 will appear in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Ballarat, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle where it will demonstrate its potential to work under full load conditions.

“As a local manufacturer, we are constantly improving our products to respond to local need,” said McLean.

“In the Volvo FMX 4X2, we have delivered a product that will make a huge difference in this vital segment of the Australian transport industry,” he said.

“The demanding conditions require constant innovation to ensure our emergency services can respond to challenges faster, more safely and more effectively.”
