New Office of Road Safety an industry win: ATA

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has welcomed news that the new Office of Road Safety will launch 1 July.

The announcement, according to the ATA, follows its lobbying efforts to call for an agency that would provide independent reports, advice to governments and take on a leadership role to drive change and save lives.

“The new Office has been established to improve leadership and coordination efforts across government to reduce road deaths and serious injuries,” the ATA said in a statement.

“The Office will operate as the primary policy adviser to the federal ministers responsible for road safety on matters related to delivering safe roads, vehicles, speeds and people. It will also work collaboratively with counterpart agencies across the states and territories.”
