NHVR reports greater uptake of Portal users

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has confirmed that the customer module for its Portal has reached 12,000 registered users since it first launched in 2016.

NHVR Access Manager, Roger Garcia, said that with over 60,000 successful submissions received to date, and over 90 per cent of all applications to the NHVR now lodged through the portal, the site is continuing to make applying for a permit quicker, easier and more transparent.

“Drivers and operators are able to see the current status of each application and can review the route on a map in the permit library.

“It’s also possible to copy a previous application rather than starting from scratch each time,” he said.

Since the Portal began in 2016 as an online method for processing permit applications, there has reportedly been a steady uptake in Portal use.

“The industry has embraced the advantages of applying for a permit through the Portal,” said Garcia. “Our aim is to reduce the red tape and make things as easy as and quick as possible, and the feedback from the industry is that we’re achieving this.”

Recently, NHVR Chief Engineer, Les Brusza, attended the Forbes Harvest Field Day to help showcase a Performance-Based Standards (PBS) approved B-quad.
