PACCAR Australia names its supplier of the year awards

Awards recognising the performance of its suppliers were held by PACCAR Australia in a ceremony at Zonzo Estate in the Yarra Valley last month. The Supplier Performance Management program, implemented to identify and evaluate its product development and business alignment in accordance with PACCAR Australia objectives culminated with formal acknowledgements for its best performing suppliers at its annual Supplier of the Year Awards.

Comtech Industries took out Overall Supplier of the Year and was recognised as a Category B Kenworth/Supplier Joint Design Winner. Most improved Supplier went to Bolwell Corporation. Other gongs went to Air Radiators for the PACCAR Parts Proprietary Winner and Brown & Watson, who received the award for PACCAR Parts Aftermarket Winner.

Andrew Hadjikakou, Managing Director, PACCAR Australia, attributed the success of the Kenworth range in Australia to his company’s commitment to offer products that are designed and manufactured locally. “There is no doubt these exceptional suppliers are critical to our ongoing success. Congratulations to Comtech Industries for taking the overall award and to all the other winners on the night for their outstanding efforts.”

PACCAR Australia includes close to 70 major Australian suppliers nationwide. It is estimated that a Kenworth truck comprises around 60 per cent Australian-owned resources with local suppliers providing a wide range of critical components such as electrical harnesses, large fiberglass components, interior trim systems, fabricated metal components, radiators and charge air cooling packages, as well as paints and paint materials.

Tom Cooper, Operations Director, PACCAR Australia, said it was exciting to see the improvements in performance since the SPM program was launched two years ago. “We are excited about the improvements in our suppliers’ individual and collective performance,” he said, “and pleased to be able to formally recognised the best of the best suppliers.”
