Registration opens for Australian Freight Industry Awards

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) is now accepting entries for the annual Australian Freight Industry Awards (AFIA), one of the transport industry’s most celebrated events that recognises and rewards the outstanding efforts and achievements of Australian freight and logistics operators.

Now in its 29th year, the AFIA – sponsored by TWUSuper and Viva Energy Australia – are among the most coveted of accolades for operators, and this year the VTA is pleased to introduce a new category that recognises female leadership in transport’.

“The Australian Freight Industry Awards recognise the hard-working achievements of transport operators from our industry across a range of categories and sectors,” said VTA CEO, Peter Anderson.

“I am delighted to announce the addition of a new Female Leadership in Transport Award that recognises companies that have taken proactive steps to improve diversity and participation of women in their workforce.”

The addition of a new category takes the total number of awards being contested this year to seven:

·       Investment in People Award – sponsored by Logical Staffing Solutions

·       Best Practice Safety Award – sponsored by CMV Truck & Bus

·       Application of Technology Award – sponsored by Transport Certification Australia

·       Waste & Recycling Award – sponsored by National Transport Insurance

·       Young Achiever of the Year Award – sponsored by Daimler Truck & Bus

·       Female Leadership in Transport Award – sponsored by Viva Energy Australia

·       Personality of the Year Award – sponsored by the Victorian Government

“I encourage those considering entering an award to visit the VTA website where they can download award criteria and application forms, and book tickets to the gala presentation dinner at the Crown Palladium Ballroom on Saturday, 1 September,” said Anderson.

The black tie AFIA presentation dinner is one of the most anticipated events on the transport industry’s calendar and the VTA has once again assembled a phenomenal line-up of acts to enthral and entertain over 700 guests at Crown.

“The AFIA presentation dinner is well-known as the freight industry’s ‘night of nights’, and once again our events team have assembled a fantastic group of acts who are combining their talents to present what promises to truly be The Greatest Show,” said Anderson.

“Ours is a great industry, and I encourage every company that works in transport, freight and logistics to get behind it by submitting an AFIA entry and attending the presentation dinner,” he said.
