Scania appoints new executive

Scania Australia has announced the appointment of Martin Toomey as Head of Truck, Bus and Engine Sales, replacing the retiring Roger McCarthy, who held the position alongside his Managing Director role.

McCarthy, who will remain on the board at Scania Australia, announced his replacement at a media event in Melbourne, and pointed out that Toomey's experiences from his role as General Manager of Eaton well prepared him for the role.

"My role here in Australia has been a dual role as Managing Director and Sales Director for Truck Bus and Engines," McCarthy said.

"To strengthen the management structure alongside Mikael's aftersales background, Martin Toomey will join Scania as the Head of Truck, Bus and Engine Sales, effective in the next few days."

McCarthy welcomed Toomey to the Scania team, and wished him well in the new role.

"It has been a great eight years here in Australia, and I am handing over the baby in a reasonable condition. It's an exciting time ahead, with a new structure that strengthens our senior executive management team," McCarthy said.
