Transport and logistics company, Toll, hosted Member of Parliament, Scott Bucholz, at its Tullamarine Express Parcels site in Victoria to see the latest technologies in operation that are helping to improve road safety.
As part of the visit, according to Toll, the Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport received a demonstration of Guardian DSS technology, which enables the company's Control Room to provide drivers with real-time intervention to prevent fatigue incidents.
"Our operators provide assistance at every stage of the journey with 24/7 support, 365 days a year across our linehaul network in Australia," Toll said in a statement.
The Control Room, according to Toll, is not only responsible for monitoring fleet location, delivery times, traffic disruption, driver fatigue and distractions, speed events and incident response, it also monitors driver safety.
Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, officially opened the facility on 5 November 2018.
Toll has also added a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2658 prime mover to its linehaul fleet.
"The newest member of the fleet sports a 580hp engine and 12 speed gearbox," Toll said. "The vehicle enables our drivers to enjoy all the latest safety features and comfort."
