Vehicle Transport Group uses the new Iveco Daily

Former motor mechanic, Phil Carton, has started a new door-to-door vehicle transportation business, Vehicle Transport Group, investing in a new Iveco 70C Daily truck.

With 15-years experience working at high-end European automotive dealerships, Carton found a niche in the market to provide a premium vehicle relocation service in the southeast Queensland area, according to commercial vehicle manufacturer, Iveco.

“There was a gap in the market for an efficient relocation service, particularly for single vehicle moves,” said Carton.

“With most other operators moving multiple vehicles you can be waiting around a long time for their trucks to arrive as they’re making several drops, in the meantime you might have your vehicle sitting in a holding yard taking up valuable space.

“Handling a single vehicle at a time, our service for customers is much more efficient, prompt and personalised.

“And with my background as a mechanic, there’s added peace of mind for customers knowing that the car will be moved carefully and sympathetically, especially broken down vehicles.”

Carton is operating an Iveco 70C Daily, featuring low tare weight and a payload capacity of 4,000kg.

“The truck is powered by Iveco’s 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine producing 170hp and 430Nm of torque and is matched to a smooth shifting 6-speed overdrive manual transmission,” Iveco said in a statement. “The new Daily is fitted with a fully engineered, all-aluminium Cobra fixed car carrier deck which is over five metres in length, providing ample space to relocate even large four-wheel-drives and dual cab utilities.”

Since launching Vehicle Transport Group in early October, the company has reportedly been in high demand.

“We’re exceeding all our targets and fast developing a strong and regular client base,” said Carton.

“As well as bringing on a second truck in the New Year, I’ll soon be adding a towbar package to the current Daily, we have a tandem trailer in build and this will allow us the flexibility to transport a second vehicle if we need to.

“With the Daily’s 3,500kg braked towing capacity and 10,700kg Gross Combination Mass (GCM), we have the capacity to transport two dual cab four-wheel-drives at a time.

“I’m very pleased with the new Daily, it’s an excellent fit for the business and extremely efficient – its low fuel use is impressive, on a combined cycle, both fully loaded and unloaded, I’m achieving 12.9L per hundred kilometres,” he said.
