International freight forwarder, VISA Global Logistics, has added its first Scania prime movers to its Australian fleet, taking delivery of eight trucks from the Swedish brand.
According to VISA Global Logistics Transport Manager, Scott Walker, four Scania R480 prime movers are for its Sydney operation, while the Melbourne fleet has taken delivery of two R480s and two R560s.
"We are predominantly conscious of fuel economy, and the costs in terms of cents per kilometer when we are choosing what trucks to buy," Walker said.
"We took a close look at how the Scanias handle our type of work, which involves both wharf and highway running. We trialed a demo vehicle for a few months, then placed our first order for eight."
According to Walker, VISA Global Logistics currently counts over 100 prime movers in its Australian fleet, all of which are on maintenance and repair contracts with the manufacturer, regardless of brand.
