Viva Energy donates to drought relief

Energy distribution company, Viva Energy, has pledged $100,000 in support of the Australian Red Cross drought social support and recovery activities.

The Red Cross program has been established to help farming families and communities who might be low on morale.

With more challenges expected to come in the ongoing drought, the program focuses on maintaining good mental health and wellbeing by establishing resilience sessions in schools and workshops in local communities.

Local leaders will be trained in psychological first aid as part of the training offered.

Ongoing support will be provided through ‘Let’s Talk’ programs to further connections for people in drought affected areas better cope with stress.

“Farming forms the backbone of our country and with large parts of Australia now struggling through one of the worst droughts on record, it is humbling to be part of commendable efforts that Australian Red Cross is making to support individual and community well-being,” said Scott Wyatt, Viva Energy Chief Executive Officer.
