Volvo Truck Challenge to be held in September

The crucial role drivers play in the supply chain will be highlighted at the Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge 2018. The international competition will feature more than 12,000 drivers from 44 markets worldwide. Drivers will be judged across a range of criteria with an emphasis on key areas of safety, productivity and fuel efficiency.

Drivers are carefully selected through a nomination process in their country, with the winner of each market qualifying to compete in the World Final September 13-14.  Held every two years in Gothenburg, Sweden, the home of Volvo Trucks, the contest showcases driver precision and skills at the Volvo Trucks Experience Center.

In Australia, dealer nominated drivers compete against state winners who have participated in competitions determined in part by Volvo software such as Dynafleet, which provides analysis on fuel burn and driver performance.

The Volvo Truck Challenge 2018 will incorporate seminars and activities geared around driver education. Studies have shown that trained drivers, in addition to taking better care of the truck, complete assignments more efficiently and safely.

Last year, Australian drivers dominated at the Volvo Fuel Challenge finals in Sweden with both Kerri Connors and Cameron Simpsons earning podium positions.
