VTA congratulates re-elected Labor Government

Upon increasing its majority at the weekend the Andrews Labor Government in Victoria has been congratulated on its re-election by the Victorian Transport Association (VTA).

According to the VTA, Premier Andrews and his team presented a positive vision for the people of Victoria with plans for infrastructure, transport, congestion and economic prosperity.

Several infrastructure initiatives announced during the campaign were endorsed by the VTA including the Level Crossing Removal Program and commitment to the North East Link project.

VTA CEO Peter Anderson said the association looked forward to working with the Premier and his team on a raft of issues that will improve conditions for freight and logistics operators throughout Victoria.

These would include heavy vehicle licensing, training and infrastructure.

“We have enjoyed an effective working relationship with the Premier and his senior ministers during their first term of government and we offer our sincere congratulations on being re-elected at the weekend,” said Anderson in an issued statement.

“The Andrews Labor Government has listened to the needs of the freight industry, as evidenced by the North East Link being prioritised over the other road projects, as well as the $4 million in funding the Government has earmarked for training new heavy vehicle drivers over the next four years, which will help to address driver shortages that are impacting transport operators,” he said.

“We look forward to building on the constructive relationship we have with the Premier and his team, for the betterment of VTA members and transport operators right across Victoria.”
