Westar named as Supercars transporter for Erebus Motorsport

Commercial vehicle retailer Westar Truck Centre has been named as the official transporter of Erebus Motorsport for the remainder of the 2018 and entire 2019 Supercars season.

The Erebus race trailer will be hauled to race events across Australia in a MAN TGX D38. The prime mover features a 15.2 litre Euro 6 engine with 560hp of power and 2,700Nm of torque.

The TGX D38 features the latest MAN technology including a built-in crumple zone, Anti Lock Braking system (ABS), disc brakes all round, Electronic Brakeforce System (EBS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). On board safety systems include Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Emergency Stopping Signal (ESS) and a road monitoring Lane Guard System (LGS).

Erebus Motorsport won the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in 2017. It is currently placed fourth in the Championship series having moved to a ZB Commodore this year.

Part of the Patterson Cheney group, Westar retails leading commercial vehicle brands Western Star, MAN, Isuzu, Dennis Eagle and the Iveco Daily range.

The combination of high power, fuel efficiency, ride comfort characteristics and multiple safety systems make the MAN D38 the ideal truck for the task according to Anthony Long, Westar Truck Centre Dealer Principal.

“Westar is proud of the association with Erebus Motorsport,” he said.

“Both companies have a commitment to excellence and standing out from the competition. We know many of our customers are Motorsport fans, and I’m sure they’ll enjoy seeing the distinctive Westar MAN out on the road and at race meetings. The partnership with Erebus will help promote us to a larger section of the truck buying public.”

Barry Ryan, Erebus Motorsport CEO said having a truck with outstanding safety features was vital as the MAN D38 truck driver, who was, to and from the track, the most important member of the team.

“This means the best conditions for a fatigue free, concentrated drive and restful living,” he said.

“Not only do our drivers need to arrive safely, but we pride ourselves on ensuring high levels of team presentation for our partners and fans and the MAN D38 certainly looks the part,” said Ryan.

According to Westar several joint promotions are planned to capitalise on the partnership, including ticket giveaways to race meetings and offering hot laps to its customers.
