Western Star optimistic about 2017 performance

After a lacklustre 2016 performance for Western Star, Penske Commercial Vehicles has reconfirmed its confidence in the American brand.

In a press release, the company pointed to a “solid pipeline of sales” and a renewed focus on customer experience.

“Our pipeline of sales for Western Star Trucks is the best we have seen for some time,” said Dale Christensen, Penske Commercial Vehicles Sales Manager – Western Star Trucks – praising the efforts of the new Penske Power Systems dealerships in Mackay, Townsville, Darwin and Cairns in supporting the brand.

“Penske Commercial Vehicles has always enjoyed success with our dealer partners and sales team, and now with Penske Power Systems taking on dealership responsibilities, our year looks very promising.”

Commencing as Penske Commercial Vehicles dealerships over the last six months, Penske Power Systems’ Mackay, Townsville, Darwin and Cairns locations have now assumed full retail sales, service and parts responsibilities.

The four locations were joined by Penske Power Systems’ Perth facility last month, which reportedly had a “stellar” first month of sales, according to Penske Commercial Vehicles.

Christensen added, “Our team has really embraced Penske’s ‘customers first’ approach – we’re excited to work with our customers and dealers across our network, providing customers with the solutions that fit their needs.

“From the 2800SS to the 6900FXC, we have a great range with Western Star Trucks so we are confident that the future is bright.”

With 336 units sold, 2016 Western Star sales were down 32.9 per cent on 2015 and almost half of what it sold in 2014 (658 units).
