Booth Transport partners with New Jersey IoT provider

Booth Transport has partnered with an American transport technology specialist.

The Melbourne-based freight carrier will use ORBCOMM to provide asset tracking to monitor its fleet of ISO tanks, road tankers and containers.

To gain complete visibility and control over its mixed fleet Booth Transport is evaluating technology that uses a high-sensitivity solar panel and includes some units with a wired temperature sensor to monitor dairy products and wine which is moves throughout Australia.

This comes with live and scheduled status updates if the mobile assets are in transit or in the yard so they can always be located no matter if they are empty or loaded.

It’s hoped that the telematics solution, which enables operators to see precise data to schedule asset maintenance, inspections and time elapsed for increased utilisation and performance, will improve turn around times and yard management while saving their drivers time and fuel.

ORBCOMM uses a single, unified cloud-based analytics platform suited for multiple asset classes.

Founded in South Australia by Lindsay Booth in the 1936, Booth Transport has grown into a national operation with expansion into Tasmania in 2019 and international shipping, transporting wine and other products around the world with a focus on the USA, the UK, China and New Zealand.

The company is in the process of installing ORBCOMM’s asset tracking solutions across its ten depots throughout Australia and expects to explore ORBCOMM’s other IoT offerings as part of their efforts to expand their deployment later this year.

“We needed a fully integrated telematics solution with flexible APIs to manage our mixed fleet. ORBCOMM’s powerful platform creates an intelligent logistics environment that enables us to seamlessly track and monitor multiple asset classes through one comprehensive view,” said Booth Transport General Manager Mitchell Booth.

“Our investment in ORBCOMM’s powerful IoT technology is already benefiting our bottom line by generating significant efficiencies, improving the safety and compliance of our fleet and enhancing service to our customers, which is our top priority.”
