City Hino celebrates 40 years

After four decades of being in business, City Hino in Sydney gathered together customers, associates and key stakeholders Friday to celebrate the milestone.

As part of the Suttons Motors Group, City Hino was founded in 1981 at the then brand-new Western Toyota sales and service facility in Guildford near Parramatta.

Suttons saw the potential for a long-lasting business relationship in the quickly expanding Hino brand.

Over the years through times of both immense prosperity and economic hardship, an unwavering relationship was forged.

In 1981, Sydney’s truck scene was a very different to today and during these formative years City Hino became Sydney’s first Sales, Service and Parts dealer for the Hino brand, leveraging upon its ideal location in what was then the industrial centre of the city.

By the dawn of the new millennium, City Hino began to outgrow its original home in Guildford and in 2003 development began on a new Hino Parts and Service facility located in East Fairfield.

In 2017 the decision was made to move further west to the transport and logistics hub of Arndell Park — an ambitious move intended to put City Hino on equal footing with every large dealership or brand in the nation and provided the space and facilities to meet the dealership’s customers’ needs for many years to come.

City Manager Daniel Glynn told the 150 people present at the celebration, including Hino Motor Sales Australia President and CEO Sam Suda, that City Hino was proud to have helped create the Hino story in Australia over the last 40 years.

Glynn also paid respect to the company’s customers.

“Our customers are the reason we are here,” he said.

“There is nothing we like more than seeing the Hino fleet grow and us supporting that and being part of their success. We actually have some customers who have been with us for about the entire 40 years.”

Glynn also thanked suppliers and staff for their contributions to the successful longevity of City Hino.

“Our suppliers and body builders are massive pieces of this jigsaw puzzle and we’re very proud of what we put on the back of a City Hino truck. Some of our staff have been with City Hino for more than 30 years and the team we have today is the best City Hino has ever had. I get to work with a great bunch of people.”
