DuPont Performance Coatings

Combining the resources of international corporation DuPont and the expertise of established brands, DuPont Performance Coatings has announced its plans to revolutionise the Australian commercial vehicle marketplace in 2011.

Based on the continuous research of its parent company and a profound understanding of the Australian market, DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) is on hand to provide refinish expertise to the transport and automotive industry.

In Australia, the portfolio comprises of three passenger vehicle brands – Standox, Spies Hecker and DuPont Refinish – and the commercial vehicle and industrial brands Imron Fleet Line®, Nason and CIA.

“DuPont has understood that commercial vehicles have unique needs,” says Melanie Sammons-Toia, DPC’s National Key Account and Fleet Manager.

“As a result, we have combined global expertise to offer more than just paint. DuPont can provide repair-in-kind products, accurate colour matching and access to the latest technology in the transport industry. “Although competing manufacturers make similar claims, only DuPont can draw on a proven history of durability, high quality and innovation.”

From humble beginnings in the gunpowder industry in 1802, DuPont has become a multi-national company, operating in over 90 countries and offering a wide range of innovative products and services including agriculture, nutrition, electronics, communications, safety and protection, home and construction, transportation and apparel.

Subsidiary DPC was formed in March 1999 when German Herberts GmbH and DuPont Automotive Finishes merged to create one of the world’s largest automotive coatings company; based on a commitment to ongoing research and development in order to make new technologies available to the commercial vehicle market.

Relying on the international DuPont network, DPC Australia – based in Riverstone, Sydney, NSW – started off incorporating Spies Hecker, a company that has been in the Australian commercial vehicle market for 25 years. Since entering the local market, DPC has become one of the most important suppliers in the automotive refinish market through a comprehensive product and service offering.

Drawing on its U.S. heritage, the company understands the importance of efficient performance with perfect results. DPC also provides tailored solutions, such as e-business, advanced colour tools, and body shop management programs to help its clientele improve business performance.
“The versatile DPC portfolio can be of distinct use for a demanding clientele,” says Melanie. “Recent introductions that have proved to be of significant advantage are the new technology commercial vehicle coatings like Imron® Fleet Line and our Teflon® based anti-graffiti clear coats.”

Imron® Fleet Line is a comprehensive, modern, and versatile vehicle refinishing system manufactured on the basis of unique mixer components PowerTint™ and of relevant HS and MS binding agents. It delivers the latest paint technology for DuPont. The Imron® Fleet Line vehicle paint system comprises the whole range of primers and fillings, covering a wide variety of substrates to ensure a high quality finish. “Imron Fleet Line® has been developed specifically for the commercial vehicle market – offering heavy-duty quality for heavy-duty results,” Melanie says.

If versatile, easy to use paint products are needed, DPC recommends Nason Commercial Finishes. “Nason is the easy choice for cost-limited spot and panel repairs and overall re-sprays. With Nason you can deliver quality jobs in a hurry, and at a price that competes with any premium brand,” says Melanie.

“If superior industrial quality is demanded, the CIA range of economical factory packed colours and ancillary products will settle the race.” Designed for the commercial and industrial market in Australia, the range includes epoxy, 1K etch and enamel primers, hardeners, ready-mix enamel 2K colours and other commercial based products including the CIA 4.1 High Build Epoxy Primer. “These products have been specifically developed for the Australian market and conditions and have excellent anti corrosive and resistance properties across all applications. CIA is locally manufactured ensuring the quality meets the standards of the Australian industrial marketplace.”
