Macleay Valley Transport adapts to changing market

Based midway between Brisbane and Sydney on the NSW coast, Macleay Valley Transport is in a prime position to service two capital cities at once. But the locational advantage doesn’t come without a challenge.

With financial volatility quickly becoming the new normal in Australian transport, adaptability is widely considered the single most important quality for success in the commercial road transport industry.

Located in Kempsey, the birthplace of David Gordon Kirkpatrick, known professionally as Slim Dusty, Macleay Valley Transport (MVT) could be a prime example for that crucial business lesson – both from a strategic perspective and from a technical one.

A former Toll division that was acquired by local industry personality Bob Fuller in 2005, the company has had to handle a fair share of change during its first decade in operation – from a lengthy upgrade of the nearby Pacific Highway through to the much talked-about slowdown of the mining boom.

To Bob, however, each setback has provided the young business with an opportunity to grow and adapt, which is why the 2016 version of MVT is vastly different to the original operation.
