Hino releases truck with AMT

Hino’s SS 2848 and SS2848 High Roof heavy-duty trucks are now offered with the overdrive version of the ZF AS-Tronic 16-speed automated manual transmission behind the E13C Hino 13-litre inline six cylinder engines delivering 353kW at 1800rpm and 2157Nm of torque at 1100rpm.

The AS-Tronic features adaptive gear selection and a manual mode, with sequential-shift gear selection. Ratio changes are therefore much faster than what is possible with a manual transmission. The gear selector level has positions for single and two-gear up-shifts or down-shifts, with the gear in use shown on the dashboard display.

The ZF AS-Tronic transmission is 2600Nm capable and in the Hino 2848 AMT, the ZF Intarder 2 integrated transmission retarder is fitted as a standard specification, handling between 80-90 percent of the task of slowing the truck when a trailer is connected.

This latest upgrade is part of the significant product upgrades of the 2010 Hino 700 Series model line-up and offers reduced fuel consumption, reduced emissions and less maintenance for the driveline and braking system.
