Isuzu adds AWD appeal to light-duty Traypack offering

To bolster its Ready-to-Work off-road range, commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu is offering a limited edition NLS 45-150 All-Wheel Drive Traypack in the month of September.

Isuzu said its broader 4×4 and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) range features proven performers designed for tough Australian conditions, delivering both application suitability and engineering smarts.

“The provisional addition of the NLS 45-150 AWD Traypack delivers yet another factory-backed, rugged, pre-bodied Ready-to-Work solution to an industry-leading off-road line-up,” said Isuzu.

With Gross Vehicle and Gross Combination masses (GVM and GCM) of 4,500kg and 8,000kg respectively, the NLS has the advantage of being able to be driven on a standard passenger car licence, meaning more access for multiple drivers – a boon for those in team-based council, civil or construction work. It also features a handy 4,000kg towing capacity.

The NLS 45-150 AWD Traypack makes use of a single speed transfer case incorporating a viscous coupling drive to the front wheels. This on-demand, part-time all-wheel drive functionality means the driver, after manually locking the front hubs, can switch between both two- and all-wheel drive operation via a convenient dashboard-mounted switch.

Isuzu’s Independent Front Suspension (IFS) also finds a home in this special edition model, bringing a superior level of driver comfort and predictable ride and handling both on and off the tarmac.

It’s powered by Isuzu’s 4JJ1-TCS, four-cylinder, 16-valve engine which outputs 110kW at 2,800rpm and peak torque of 375Nm (277lbft) from 1,600 to 2,800rpm, mated to Isuzu’s five-speed synchromesh manual transmission.
For improved safety all NLS models feature ABS and ASR traction control, Hill Start Aid, driver and passenger airbag and ECE-R29 cab strength compliance, while driver and passenger comfort is aided by integrated air conditioning, a contoured adjustable driver's seat, central locking, electric windows and mirrors and an updated multimedia system.

The factory-backed, heavy duty aluminium tray body comes with integrated load restraint anchor points, headboard including rear window protector, removable drop sides and rear tailgate as well as an Isuzu reversing camera.
According to Isuzu Australia National Sales Manager, Les Spaltman, the limited nature of this model makes it all the more attractive.
