Mack Super-Liner

It’s the norm for a truck magazine to be provided with a fairly new truck for a test drive, but Mack stepped outside the box recently when they put Prime Mover into a Super-Liner that had already accumulated some 275,000km – the majority of them “under assessment” with various operators who no doubt threw everything at it they could.

Notwithstanding what the odometer said, the Super-Liner was in a superb condition and still exuded that certain “bulldog” presence on the highway and particularly at truck stops. There were no rattles to be heard or obvious bits missing, so it’s safe to say it has survived its time as a test unit quite unscathed.

At the heart of every truck is its engine, and the 16-litre Mack MP10 under the bonnet of this truck is a 600-horsepower unit that delivers its maximum torque of 2,800Nm from as low as 1,000 rpm though to 1,500.
