TIP delivers final mile EVs to France

Logistics company, DB Schenker France, has taken delivery of five Ducato electric vehicles from equipment service provider, TIP Trailer Services, to optimise deliveries while reducing particulate emissions and noise pollution.

The EVs have a volume of 20-metres-cubed, weight capacity of 850kg and a maximum range of 150km, according to TIP, and have been made available to five French agencies: Gennevilliers, Massy/Rungis, Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Etienne and Nice.

Other technical specifications include a recharging time of eight hours, mode 3 load type, asynchronous water-cooled motor, a max motor power of 140 kW, lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 62 kWh and has a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

This development demonstrates TIP's commitment to the deployment of cleaner vehicles for last-mile delivery.

The EVs were manufactured by UK-based OEM, BD Auto.

BD Auto was founded by Osman Boyner in 2009. Boyner's team have developed battery-drivetrain solutions for boats, aircraft and ground vehicles.

January this year, TIP Trailer Services, a portfolio company of I Squared Capital and one of the leading trailer leasing, rental, maintenance and repair providers across Europe and Canada, completed the acquisition of Trailer Wizards, a leading supplier of trailer rental and leasing services in Canada.

Following the acquisition, TIP is integrating Trailer Wizards with its existing Canadian business, Train Trailer Rentals. This is reported to place TIP in a strong position for long-term growth as it further strengthens its position in the Canadian market.

TIP is headquartered in Amsterdam, services customers from 102 locations spread over 17 countries in Europe and North America.
