Top transport regulators address HVNL and road user charges at State Conference 2020

With only five weeks until the Victorian Transport Association’s (VTA) State Conference 2020 at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island, the event is shaping up as a must attend for freight operators.

“With our conference theme of Managing Increased Demand, we are thrilled to have experts from the two major regulatory bodies who are responsible for policy settings that are central to how transport operators respond to the challenges of a busier trading environment,” said VTA CEO Peter Anderson.

“I am pleased to confirm National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) CEO Sal Petroccitto and National Transport Commission (NTC) Executive Leader, Productivity Paul Davies will attend and address the conference about reforms to heavy vehicle national law and road user charges.

“The VTA has been particularly active in discussions around limiting increases to the road user charge, recently winning a cap in increases to 5.0 per cent over two years late last year. The NTC has played a central role in the area of road user pricing, so we are pleased to welcome Paul Davies to address delegates on the NTC’s work in this space.

“Sal Petroccitto will update delegates on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator about important reforms made to heavy vehicle national law over the past year. It’s been an especially busy 12 months for the NVHR as more states and territories delegate responsibility for heavy vehicle law
enforcement to the national regulator," he said.

Other conference topics will include industrial relations, infrastructure, technology and safety, and education and training, with speakers and panellists attending to help industry prepare for the opportunities and risk increased demand will bring.

Special Members Only pricing is available for all current VTA members, with packages available to suit all delegates. For pricing and other information about the conference, please visit the VTA website, where you can also register online.
