Volvo Group has promoted Heléne Mellquist to President Volvo Penta the commercial vehicle manufacturer announced this week.
She replaces Björn Ingemanson, who is retiring after being at the helm since 2012.
He joined the company in 1996 as Marketing Director of Volvo Cars Japan Corp.
Mellquist, who has held many senior roles at the company, currently holds the position as President for the European Division at Volvo Trucks.
Her career at the Volvo Group began in 1988.
As the newest member of the Volvo Group Management team she will join Volvo Penta on 1 July and take up her new position on 1 September, 2020.
"I feel extremely inspired to continue to develop this part of the Volvo Group together with the team at Volvo Penta," said Mellquist.
"With the strong product portfolio Volvo Penta has in both the industrial and marine segments, I am taking on this task with great expectations and eagerness."
In 2018 Mellquist told Peter Shields that Volvo anticipated an electromobility transformation in which the company would deliver a long haul solution by as early as 2024.
New regulations have come into effect this month under the Heavy Vehicle National Law. Compliance across all parts of the supply chain remains a factor for all those who have the power to influence it.
