Porthaul adds to PBS fleet

Victorian transport company Porthaul has taken delivery of six new Kenworth T409 twin steer prime movers for new Performance-Based Standards (PBS) approved moving floor combinations.

The new prime movers were ordered through Barry Maney Group in Mt Gambier for a new contract with Carter Holt Harvey Woodproducts to transport milled woodchips from Mt Gambier to Portland in Victoria.

According to Porthaul founder, Brian Williamson, the 21.1m semi-trailers have nearly as much capacity as a B-double, capable of a 35-tonne payload.

“The Kenworth T409 were a good option for the twin steer, which we needed for approval under PBS to get to the weights we wanted. They're going great, performing really well and the drivers are very happy,” said Williamson.
