Secon Freight Logistics announces new CEO

Melbourne-based portside operator, Secon Freight Logistics, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.

Former Chief Operating Officer Daniel Considine has been promoted to the role of CEO the company announced internally to staff earlier this week.

Customers were informed of the decision today.

Considine, who is originally an Occupational Therapist, has been with Secon since 2013.

“We have an incredible team at Secon within all levels of the business. They are the driving force behind everything we do and are the backbone of our success,” he told Prime Mover.

“It is both a privilege and an honour to serve within such a team. Everything I do, I do for them,” said Considine.

Secon offers a comprehensive range of services, including container cartage, warehousing, distribution and national bulk tipping services.

It now runs a fleet of over 50 heavy vehicles handling goods for the retail, FMCG, light industrial, bulk plastics, food and dairy industries.

Significant investments have been made in recent years by the family business which was founded in 1968 by Jim Seide and Maurie Considine, Daniel’s grandfather.

Among these was a nine-hectare extension in Truganina valued at around $40 million which has increased its container capacity making it one of the biggest yards for containers in Victoria.

Secon, as a result now handles over 50,000 TEUs per annum from the terminals.

“With the support of our Board and the Executive Team, Daniel will be critical to ensure our staff, customers and suppliers are valued and respected, as the company continues to grow and evolve with the next generation of management,” said Brendon Considine, Secon Freight Logistics Managing Director.

“Daniel’s experience and wealth of knowledge combined with an empathy that embodies our RIGHT way values will ensure that Secon will be in good hands for many years to come.”
