Second CD supports Lights On the Hill

A compilation album of poems, tunes and yarns put together to raise funds and awareness of the Lights on the Hill Trucking Memorial at Gatton in Queensland has been released.

After the tremendous success of We Won’t Forget Ya Mate! Volume 1, artists have donated their songs, talents and time to produce Volume 2 that is described as having something for everyone. The album begins with a poem by Lea Enchelmaier, Remembering Our Truckies, frequently referred to as the Truckies’ Poem and includes instrumentals, toe-tapping songs, ballads, long-standing favourites such as Six Days on the Road, Falsom Prison Blues and Boppin’ the Blues, and a number of original songs by well-known artists including Travis Sinclair, Paul Costa, Jayne Denhan, Kathy Sunners and Michael Pincott. The album also showcases Dionne White and Pete Edwards making their debut as recording artists.

There is a poem written and spoken by trucking legend, John ‘the Ferret’ Moran and a yarn penned and presented by Australian country music’s legendary songwriter and poet, Kelly Dixon.
The CD was compiled by the team at Rendition Records in Esk with many of the songs recorded in its studios, engineered and produced by Kathy Sunners. Rendition Records is a sponsor of the Memorial Wall donating a massive number of hours to record the songs and bring the project together.

The wall in Gatton was built to remember truck and coach drivers who have lost their lives and the Lights on the Hill organisation helps support the families and recognises the tremendous contribution truckies make to this country.

All profits from the album We Won’t Forget Ya Mate! Volume 2, go towards maintaining the wall, and building another to accommodate more names of those who have lost their lives in the road transport industry.
Details about the album and the wall are available from Kathy White, founder and coordinator of the organisation, on (07) 54 65 6044 or Merchandise Manager Gary Simpson on 0418 15578 or by e-mailing admin@lightsonthehill.com or visiting shop 23, Warrego Highway, Plainlands, opposite well-known truckstop, Rusty’s.
