Valvoline Airshield DEF

Following the recent introduction of the EnviroGreen Wash and Degreaser from Valvolines car care division Eagle One, Valvoline has released its AirShield Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). Since the introduction of heavy vehicle exhaust emission standards, engine manufactures have utilised after treatment systems to reduce the volume of untreated emissions being expelled from a vehicles exhaust. One system readily employed by OEM’s is a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust system. An SCR effectively utilises Diesel Exhaust Fluid to reduce the NOx emissions in the exhaust gas system of an SCR equipped vehicle, whether it’s a truck, bus, tractor, car, van or an off road vehicle.

The Valvoline AirShield DEF product is produced by combining highly purified urea with ultra clean demineralised water. This process is undertaken in controlled conditions to produce a final product of the highest quality. Valvoline AirShield DEF is AUS32 (Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%), a trademark held by the German Association of the Automobile Industry (VDA) which ensures quality standards are maintained in accordance with ISO 22241 specifications.

Transport operators purchasing a cheap product formulation have reported premature catalyst deactivation, increased maintenance and voided vehicle warranties. These off spec products can result in a false economy as avoidable costs increase due to the damaged SCR system. Valvoline believes that providing customers with peace of mind and an efficiently operating SCR system is vital. Valvoline AirShield DEF facilitates the efficient operation of an SCR system to provide lower total vehicle running costs.
