Vellex acquires NSW Freightlines

National freight distributor, Vellex, has acquired NSW Freightlines, a transport and logistics company based in Ingleburn.

Current NSW Freigtlines owners Joe, Elizabeth and Michael, according to Vellex, have assisted with the integration and handover.

“The acquisition will provide us with much needed additional operational space in Sydney, and additional equipment to complement our current fleet, as well as allowing us to expand our service offering to include wharf and container cartage,” Vellex said in a statement.

“The staff of NSW Freightlines will join the Vellex family, and bring with them the expertise and experience to integrate the new services into our business.”

NSW Freightlines has proudly served the Australian transport industry since its inception as an owner-driver operation in 1970 and the accomplishments of its people are testament to this.

By uniting these distinguished family entities, Vellex is expected to be an even stronger partner in transport.

Austin Vella, Managing Director of Vellex, is a long-term member of the RFNSW Board of Directors and has held the role of Vice Chairman of the Australian Trucking Association.

Michelle Vella has worked various roles within Vellex including Workplace Health and Safety Officer. She was also a 2018 Daimler Future Leader and coordinated a leadership project which focused on improving internal safety communication by utilising comms techniques traditionally used in marketing and advertising.

Dale Hedley of Vellex was a finalist for the 2017 Craig Roseneder Award and was selected by the judging panel for his technical skill, aptitude and dedication to the industry.

Vellex opened for business in 1985. Today, it has a national network of branches, warehouses and resources in every state and territory.
