Victorian engineering firm to hire automotive specialists

Leading specialist automotive engineering firm Premcar has commenced an extensive recruitment drive to secure 35 skilled automotive specialists in Australia.

The Melbourne-based vehicle engineering company is expanding its skilled team to accommodate the final development and production of a new Nissan vehicle model, which is a co-development between Premcar and the global automaker.

Premcar’s latest recruitment drive is targeting specialists in engineering and manufacturing. Successful applicants will be dedicated to Premcar’s latest OEM (original equipment manufacturing) program with Nissan.

Premcar’s new roles will be based at its 6,300 square metre production facility in the Melbourne suburb of Epping. The company established the state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly centre for its first project with Nissan, the Navara N-Trek Warrior 4×4 pick-up.

The company says almost 60 per cent of the new job vacancies have so far been filled. According to Premcar, its newest recruits boast extensive automotive manufacturing experience, with many re-joining the automotive industry after the shutdown of local vehicle manufacturing in the state of Victoria.

“Premcar is continuing to support the development of world-class automotive skills in Australia, and more specifically, Victoria,” said Premcar Engineering Director, Bernie Quinn.

“Victoria is home to generations of world-class engineering skills and to have this level of experience and knowledge within our team puts Premcar further ahead as a specialist automotive supplier.”

Premcar is said to be a highly skilled product development and engineering consultancy with a proven track record of product delivery and performance.

The company was established by Prodrive UK in 1996 and was formerly known as Tickford Vehicle Engineering. The business name was changed to Premcar when the current owners took ownership in 2012. The owners have been with the company through all of its history of engineering excellence.

Over a 20-year period, Premcar has worked with several OEMs including Nissan on their Warrior performance program.

As an engineering services provider, it’s claimed Premcar meets or exceeds the toughest OEM standards.

The company has a rich history of completing global projects in passenger car and light commercial, automotive aftermarket, aerospace, defence, heavy vehicle, mining and recreational watercraft.

Among Premcar’s extensive list of clients are IVECO, Hyundai, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Yamaha and TRD (Toyota Racing Developments).
