VTA Wodonga regional workshop

The regional workshop held by the Victorian Transport Association (VTA) in Wodonga on 6 April was well attended, with over 20 local transport companies in attendance.

Attendees were provided with information on the New Modern Awards and their application in the transport industry, plus several other important industry issues.

“Oftentimes our regional members are too busy to come to Melbourne for meetings, so this was a great chance for our regional members to join us for an information exchange,” said VTA CEO, Philip Lovel AM.

“We were very pleased by the attendance at this session and the positive feedback from the presentations; it is great to know that we can help clarify what can be some complex material and make it much easier to apply in the workplace.”

Information on the New Modern Award System was provided by the Industrial Relations Advisor for the VTA, Paul Ryan. “This Seminar removed all the confusion about an employer’s obligations under the award and which award applies to which employees,” he said.

All attendees received copies of the New Modern Award Handbooks prepared by ARTIO, the national industrial organization representing employers in the freight and logistics industry.

Mr Lovel added, “We encourage those who have missed this session and are able to do so, to attend the Melbourne or Horsham Workshop. You can also contact the VTA directly and we can provide you a copy of the Award Handbooks which ARTIO have produced.”

All Workshops are free and open to VTA members and the public. Registration is essential. For more information contact the VTA on 03 9646 8590.
