Westar Derrimut opens

Westar Truck Centre, part of the Peterson Cheney Group, one of Victoria’s biggest automotive retailers offering Toyota, Holden, Honda and Mercedes-Benz, raises the bar in new vehicle, service and parts presentation at the new complex located on the corner of Robinson Road and Australis Drive.

“The new Westar Truck Centre Derrimut has been designed to meet the needs of new commercial vehicle buyers, with features to ensure customers have an unrivalled purchase and service experience,” Dealer Principal Terry Jewson says.

The dealership is located on a 38,000 square metre site and will handle the full model range from Isuzu, Western Star and MAN trucks; meeting customer needs in light, medium and heavy-duty trucks all from under the one roof.

It is a dealership with a difference for truck buyers, offering facilities usually found at the point of luxury car sale and never before at a truck dealership. From the moment a person steps through the door he or she is treated as a valued customer, right down to being formally greeted and offered a complimentary cup of coffee at a cafe situated adjacent to the reception area.

It is a huge facility providing plenty of room for customer parking and designed with B-doubles in mind, allowing easy manoeuvrability and more than ample room to unhook trailers.

The service area has 42 bays with accommodation for full B-double combinations, all fitted with the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic and service equipment, plus brake roller testers and electric lifters to deliver fast and efficient service and repair with a minimum of downtime. Service customers are treated to luxury facilities including ensuited bedrooms, designed for quality rest.

“We understand the transport industry and particularly the needs of drivers. When we designed the new dealership we wanted to provide something innovative and unique to our valued clients – motel style rooms to allow drivers a comfortable rest environment while their vehicles are being serviced,” Terry says.

“The rooms feature a comfortable bed and separate ensuite with toilet, shower and wash basin so drivers can get some well earned rest while we work on their trucks.”

The complex has a massive parts warehouse of 1450 square metres enabling Westar to stock everyday items such as filters and brake pads through to complete engine rebuild kits to get a truck back on the road as quickly as possible.

“If we do not have a specific part in stock we can usually source it very quickly. Our aim is to do everything we can to keep our customers’ trucks where they should be, on the road making money,” Terry remarks.

A parts and accessories supermarket has been designed to allow customers to browse at their leisure and in comfort and source items from oils and coolants to lights, fuses and a host of accessories to customise their trucks.

The Paterson Cheyney Group has a comprehensive environmental policy and the new building has been built to comply with the Section J rating. Numerous rainwater tanks supply the truck wash area and water the landscaped gardens on the premises.

The huge service area has been designed to take advantage of ambient light with sensors installed to provide lighting if and when required, and a high priority has been placed on energy efficiency throughout the entire complex.

Westar Truck Centre has some of the most experienced truck sales representatives in the country, and can tailor a vehicle ideally matched to customer applications. The sales team is headquartered in modern offices designed to welcome customers in a relaxed atmosphere with all aids on hand to specify vehicles to ideally suit all transport tasks.

The dealership was officially opened by Isuzu Australia CEO, Yuki Murata, along with Western Star/MAN Automotive Imports General Manager, Paul Glavac, at a function for customers and suppliers to showcase the features of Australia’s most modern and largest truck facility.

Westar Truck Centre is easily accessed at Derrimut, just 300 metres to the new Deer Park by-pass, at the centre of Melbourne’s trucking hub.

The facility is focussed on customers and their requirements, designed to offer a new buying or service experience in what is the most unique truck dealership in the country. It has a WOW factor setting new standards for road transport operators in Australia while offering the best of everything.
